Throwback Tulsa: In 2017, Oklahoma State and Tulsa open season on Thursday
On Aug. 31, 2017, the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Tulsa Golden Hurricane began their football seasons on a Thursday night in Stillwater.
OSU scored four offensive touchdowns of 40 or more yards in a resounding 59-24 win over Tulsa in front of a sold-out crowd of 56,790 in Boone Pickens Stadium.

During Thursday’s 59-24 handling of the University of Tulsa, in Josh Henson’s debut as the OSU line coach, there were signs the Cowboy blocking slump may have ended.
Here’s what I came away with: President, who quarterbacked all but two series in the first quarter, has some goods. And that provides TU’s 2017 season some potential.
“We’re young, but that’s not an excuse,” coach Philip Montgomery said. “We have to step up and be ready to play."
Oklahoma State megabooster T. Boone Pickens attended the Cowboys' season opener in his suite on Thursday, but he did not meet with the media before the game kicked off.
The senior completed 20-of-24 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns in Oklahoma State's season opening win over Tulsa.
Zachary Crabtree, Marcus Keyes and Co. created holes left and right for Justice Hill and J.D. King, who combined for 227 yards and two touchdowns.
