Family & Children’s Services’ annual Brainiac Ball has been called “the smartest soiree in town,” in part because the event includes a trivia contest to test the attendees’ knowledge of popular culture.

But there’s much more than trivial pursuits going on at the 11th incarnation of this popular gala, The evening will include a cocktail reception, dinner, the team trivia contest, a wine toss, a jewelry raffle and an eclectic dining auction, as well as a live auction for such items as premier tickets to Oklahoma City Thunder games next season and lavish trips to New York City, Crested Butte and the California wine country.

The Brainiac Ball helps fund the 49 specialized programs offered through Family & Children’s Services, which help one out of every six Tulsans to deal with mental health, substance abuse and family issues.

Event details: 6 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Cox Business Center, 100 Civic Center.

Attire: Something smart — ornate “thinking caps” a plus.
