Sand Springs Community Theatre has a treat for those looking for a festive, family-friendly show before Christmas. They’re preparing for their productions of “Spirit of Christmas” and “Scrooge’s Christmas.”

The show will be at 7 p.m. December 2 and 2:30 p.m. December 3 at the Central Ninth Grade Center auditorium at 14 W. 4th Street. The show is free, but suggested admission is a $5 donation to Sand Springs Community Theatre or a canned good donation to Sand Springs Community Services.

“Spirit of Christmas” will feature performances by The Young Page Players and the Northwoods Fine Arts Academy Choir. Jenni Walker and Patty Dixon are co-directing “Scrooge’s Christmas.”

“Scrooge’s Christmas” is based on Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” in which Ebenezer Scrooge is confronted by the spirits of Christmas past, present and future, but the story is condensed to about an hour in the play. The show will feature plenty of songs for the audience to enjoy.

“This is our way to help (Sand Springs Community Services),” Dixon said.

She said last year’s Christmas show raised about 600 pounds of food for Sand Springs Community Services and she’d like to beat that amount this year.
