John "Jack" Raymond Lannon passed away peacefully on April 17, 2015 while surrounded by his four children. Jack was born in St. Paul, Minn., on January 23, 1929. He was the oldest of five children, all boys. After spending most of his childhood in Prior Lake, Minn., Jack graduated from Shakopee High School in 1946 and immediately joined the US Navy, until he was honorably discharged in 1949. Jack graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and worked throughout his career as an accountant with Citgo Petroleum.
He married his wife Marty in 1958 and relocated to Wausau, Wis., where they began their family. They moved to Tulsa in 1972 and enjoyed a full life raising their children and spending time with friends. Jack was an avid golfer and often read for pleasure. He and Marty were very active in square dancing and were involved in numerous activities with their children and later their grandchildren. Jack volunteered with the Boy Scouts while raising his son, and in recent years volunteered at Saint Francis Hospital. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jack's wife preceded him in death in 2009. He is survived by his children and children-in-law, Kelly Henderson, Lisa and Paul Strickland, Molly and Jimmy "Bo" Whittle, Pat Lannon and Suzette Grillot; as well as his grandchildren, Daniel, Jenna, Hannah, Emily, Torey, John and Parker. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Lannon and Thomas Lannon; and his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lannon.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 23 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will occur at St. Pius Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. and will be followed by the recitation of the rosary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial High School Special Olympics team; or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
