EDMOND — Oklahoma oil and gas regulators are formulating a response to earthquakes that startled residents in the central part of the state early Tuesday, the latest incidents in a record-breaking year for quakes.

A magnitude-4.3 quake struck at 5:39 a.m. about five miles east-northeast of Edmond, followed by a magnitude-3.4 earthquake about 10 minutes later, according to the United States Geological Survey.

By early evening, the USGS had reported five more earthquakes in the Edmond area, including a magnitude-3.2 quake about 3:40 p.m.
