Law officers shot and killed a man Saturday morning in southeast Oklahoma City after a chase that reached 100 mph on residential streets, the Oklahoma City Police Department reported.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper initiated a pursuit about 6:45 a.m. near Interstate 240 and Air Depot Boulevard, Oklahoma City Police Department Capt. Paco Balderrama said.

The trooper asked for backup, and a nearby Oklahoma City Police officer joined in the chase after the driver exited the highway at SE 44 and South Eastern Avenue. Speeds reached 100 mph, and the driver pulled into the yard of a home at SE 32 and South Kelley Avenue, Balderrama said.
