OKLAHOMA CITY - Rep. Tom Cole came out against legislation on Tuesday calling on Vice President Mike Pence to take steps to remove President Donald Trump from office under the 25th Amendment.

“We should call this resolution what it is: a transparent attempt to pressure the vice president into performing a duty he does not believe is necessary at this time,” Cole, R-Moore, said at a meeting of the House Rules Committee.

“The vice president has not done what the majority wants him to do. So they’re pushing forward this resolution in an attempt to make him execute the House’s will.”

Cole is the top Republican on the Rules Committee, and his statement would reflect the position of the House Republican leadership.
