City Councilor Grant Miller pleaded not guilty on Thursday to a count of misdemeanor domestic assault and battery.
The plea was entered electronically in Tulsa County District Court by Miller’s attorney, Shannon McMurray.
“He’s innocent, and that will be proven,” she told the Tulsa World on Thursday. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement, and he does intend on continuing his service with the community. And I am very confident that this case will be resolved in his favor. I have all the evidence.”
The next hearing was set for May 22.
Miller was arrested at his midtown home a week ago after a relative of the victim called the police. The victim reportedly lived with Miller.

Miller is a first-term councilor who was elected in 2022. He has said previously that he plans to seek reelection.
Prosecutors allege that he pushed, grabbed and kicked the victim “about the body with force and violence and with the unlawful intent to do her corporal hurt and bodily injury.”
If convicted, he could be incarcerated for up to a year in the Tulsa County jail or be required to pay a fine not to exceed $5,000 or both, according to state statutes pertaining to first-time offenders.
Miller has made no public statements since his arrest and did not attend Wednesday’s City Council meetings.
