CLAREMORE —- State Rep. Marty Quinn, R-Claremore, said Wednesday that he intends to seek the state Senate District 2 seat, which is being vacated by Sen. Sean Burrage.

Burrage, a Democrat, announced this week that he will not seek re-election in 2014.

"In my time as state representative I worked hard to build a positive reputation and relationships with House and Senate members, and the members know I am an individual they can trust," Quinn said. "I believe that is a great asset when it comes to accomplishing things on behalf of the people I serve, and I hope to continue that reputation in the Senate."

Quinn has represented District 9, which now encompasses Claremore and central Rogers County.

Senate District 2 was redrawn after the 2010 Census to include Claremore and most of the southern half of Rogers County, plus a part of Mayes County that includes Pryor.
