The executive director and CEO of Family & Children’s Services was recently recognized by the University of Oklahoma’s College of Arts and Sciences for her career accomplishments.
Gail Lapidus was one of three graduates to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award.
Lapidus, a 1979 graduate with a master’s degree in social work, has been with Family & Children’s Services for 40 years, serving as its director since 1986. During that time the human services agency has grown to a staff of more than 500.
“The OU School of Social Work and the College of Arts and Sciences inspired me to hear the clarion call of needed change, to heed that call, lead and take action,” Lapidus said.
Also receiving the honor were Homer Paul, a 1954 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in history, and Brandi Coyner, a 2005 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in zoology.
