OKLAHOMA CITY — Saying it’s time for a new generation of leadership, House Minority Leader Scott Inman officially announced on Thursday that he is running for governor.
Gov. Mary Fallin is finishing her second term and can’t run again.
“I am running for governor because I believe Mary Fallin and (Lt. Gov.) Todd Lamb have failed this state in their leadership over the last seven years,” Inman, D-Del City, said. “They have devastated things we all care about, regardless of party, like public education, health care and public safety. I think it is high time that a new generation of leadership have an opportunity to govern the state, forcing the Republicans in charge to negotiate and compromise.”
One-party rule is never good for anyone, except the party in power, he said. Republicans control the House, Senate and all statewide elective offices.
