Reliable. Trustworthy. Punctual. These are three very important words for any business owner or manager looking for new employees to join their team. After all, having trustworthy employees within your organization matters significantly for your brand identity and your bottom line.

And this is exactly why Tulsa businesses appreciate what Rise Staffing can provide.

Rise Staffing, which helps people with intellectual and other disabilities find the best job for their skills, is celebrated for partnering with reliable, quality and productive people searching for the perfect job. And once you hire the Rise Staffing candidate, he or she will not let your company down, says Rise founder Lisa Toth.  Rise employees will be there on time with a smile — every single day.

Finding the best fit

To find the right employee for each partner business, Toth and her team will pre-interview each potential job-seeker to learn about their strengths and find out what they really want to do. Even better? Rise will then help train the new employee in the skills needed for the job and also help the new employer make a job manual and position description, which can benefit the business for years to come.

Rise Staffing only chooses to hire employees who are hardworking and work well alongside their co-workers. “We create a culture in our company that has transformed our team in several positive ways, increasing our belief that it is worth putting in the time to encourage, train and communicate with employees and customers,” explains Toth. “Communication is a two-way street, input from all is crucial for us to succeed with our service placements.”

"Rise"-ing to the top

In operation since 2004, Rise Staffing believes in the worth and dignity of all citizens regardless of societal, developmental or physical barriers. Rise Staffing is inspired by potential. And Rise Staffing employees have it in droves.

Take for example, Caleb Conwell. Conwell, who had been looking for full-time work for years, and, in taking advantage of the need for essential workers, was offered a job with Sam’s Club in March 2020. According to Toth, Conwell started at $11/per hour, and is now making over $15 an hour after just a year of employment. In an interesting twist, Conwell moonlights as a professional wrestler and luchador.  He says he wanted to earn money to support his wrestling career.

“Caleb has been successful at the job and has grown in confidence and independence from his work experience during the COVID-19 shutdown,” says Toth.  “We found it weird at first interviewing with masks and not getting near anyone. But soon we realized that this is the prime time to get people jobs. We found that employers were happy to have Rise Staffing customers fill their jobs.”

Another Rise success story is Ramon Velasco employee of Green County HOA Management, which manages Olympia Townehomes. Since 2017 Ramon and his co-worker/Rise Staffing job coach, Rhonda James, have worked cleaning the Townehome common areas.

In 2018, Ramon was awarded the Employee of the Year, and GCHOA won Employer of the Year, from the Oklahoma chapter of the Association for Persons in Supported Employment (APSE).

Providing help during the pandemic

While Toth says that the pandemic has made it difficult assisting people with disabilities to find employment, Tulsa businesses still must hire essential employees. Rise was able to help make these placements.

In fact, Qdoba, Raising Canes, Sonic and Los Cabos have all hired Rise Staffing clients. Other jobs Rise has staffed include a laundry service worker; cart-pushers at Sam's, Walmart and Costco; and cleaning and sanitizing jobs at area hotels. Local pharmacy, Quality First, even hired one person to deliver medicine since she drives and is capable.

“It is a fact that businesses do have happier workplaces because my customers are often contagiously happy about their work,” says Toth. “Everyone at Rise is a star with the potential to sparkle and shine.”
