Fire burns semi, trailer in Wagoner Walmart parking lot

Wagoner firefighters responded to a semi truck and trailer fire in the early morning hours Saturday in the Wagoner Walmart parking lot.

Fire Chief Kelly Grooms said the call came in around 4:30 a.m.

The semi was traveling southbound on Highway 69 when the driver noticed his vehicle was on fire and pulled into the Walmart parking lot.

Grooms said the fire started at the back of the truck and spread to the trailer. He believes it was sparked by either a flat tire or by the brakes getting hot.

Firefighters had to unload the majority of the semi in order to completely extinguish the blaze. Grooms said there was fire, smoke and water damage to the contents.

Damage and loss estimates are not known at this time.

Vehicles in the immediate area were moved away from the burning semi. No one was injured.
