Tulsa's favorite teen chef will compete on Food Network's "Chopped" soon.
Sixteen-year-old Remmi Smith, an entrepreneur and founder of Cook Time with Remmi, will make her national television debut at 9 p.m. Sept. 6.
“Being on 'Chopped' was one of the best experiences of my life. To see how national television works behind the scenes was fascinating, and I met some other really great teen chefs," Remmi said in a news release.
The episode is part of the "Chopped" Teen Tournament that features 16 teen chefs in head-to-head competitions with a $25,000 grand prize. The five-part series started Aug. 23, and the final showdown will air Sept. 20.
"You'll definitely see my competitive drive come out during competition," she said during her audition video, adding that she would like to write more cookbooks, go to culinary school and bring more awareness to childhood obesity and feeding hungry children.
Remmi was the winner of the "Get Started Tulsa" business startup competition in 2015. She also serves as a national student ambassador for Sodexo, a global leader in food services in 4,000 schools in the United States, and is the founder of Chef Club Box, a subscription based snack box with healthy snacks for kids.
