When preparing your Thanksgiving dinner, remember these tips to prevent foodborne illnesses. If you plan to cook a turkey that has been frozen, thaw it in the
refrigerator. Allow 24 hours of thawing time for every 5 pounds of turkey. Wash
your hands and kitchen surfaces frequently to avoid spreading bacteria that may
be present on the bird. Cook the turkey until its internal temperature reaches 170
degrees in the thickest part of the breast and 180 degrees in the thigh. It’s safest to
cook stuffing separately. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours.
