RESOLUTION NO. 1143-020121 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRISTOW, OKLAHOMA, AND MAYORAL PROCLAMATION CALLING FOR AN ELECTION IN THE CITY OF BRISTOW ON APRIL 6, 2021, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING A QUESTION TO THE REGISTERED VOTERS AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BRISTOW, OKLAHOMA, TO ADDRESS PRIMARY ELECTIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION BY THE CREEK COUNTY ELECTION BOARD WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bristow, Oklahoma, has reviewed the Charter of the City of Bristow and proposes to the voters an amendment to the Charter in the form of a Charter Amendment as hereinafter set forth: The undersigned Mayor of the City of Bristow, Oklahoma, hereby calls a special election for April 6, 2021, for purposes of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Bristow, Oklahoma, a question regarding the adoption of a proposed amendment to the City Charter of the City of Bristow, Oklahoma, to become effective following approval by the voters. The ballot title of the Election Proposition shall read as follows: CHARTER PROPOSITION NO. 1 Shall the City Charter of the City of Bristow, Oklahoma, be amended to change the primary election requirements, and providing for amendment to Section 8-4 as follows: Section 8-4. Primary election; time; voting. A primary election shall be held in every odd-numbered year on the date established by the State Election Board to nominate candidates for mayor and/or councilmember to succeed those whose terms are expiring in the respective year. If only one person is a candidate for an office to be filled, that person shall be not only nominated, but also elected ipso facto; and their name shall not appear on the primary or general election ballot. Every qualified elector of the City shall be entitled to vote for one candidate for mayor; and every qualified elector of a ward shall be entitled to vote for one candidate for councilmember from the ward. O Yes (For Amendment) O No (Against Amendment) The election shall be conducted by the Creek County Election Board on a City-wide basis. The precinct officials, polling places, hours, and rules for said election shall be determined by the Creek County Election Board in the same manner as determined by State and County elections. Absentee ballots will be allowed in the election.
